FAQ
The following are Frequently Asked Questions that should help guide you through the casting process:
What type of contestant are you looking for?
There is no one type of contestant who will be chosen. All types of personalities, backgrounds, styles and attitudes are welcome. The one thing everyone should have is a passion for style, design and fashion! We are looking for a wide variety of people who will bring talent, energy and excitement to the show as well as to the fashion world. All contestants must meet the guidelines and have the traits specified in the contestant application and the eligibility rules.
What if I don’t know how to sew?
You should be able to take your designs from concept to reality on your own. Contestants will be expected to design, manufacture, assemble, construct and style a variety of garments and items. Creativity as well as technical ability is needed to succeed in this competition.
What is the minimum age to be a contestant?
You must be age 21 or older by January 1, 2013. And yes, we will be verifying your birth date. This is an eligibility requirement and no exceptions will be made – no matter how awesome you are. However, you may apply prior to turning 21 as long as you will be 21 on or before January 1, 2013.
Do I have to submit my casting materials all at once?

How do I know if you received my application and video(s)?
If you are applying via the casting website www.styledtorockcasting.com , you will receive a confirmation email once you submit.
Unfortunately, due to the high volume of submissions we anticipate receiving from applicants, we will not be able to answer any questions about the receipt of your application and video(s). If you are mailing a physical submission: all the major courier and postal services can track packages, so we suggest that you send it via one of them.
How will I know if I have made it to the next round?
Casting producers will notify you by phone. If you receive a voicemail from a casting producer, you must return the call as soon as possible. Those who do not return calls may be dropped from consideration.
What if I don’t have a camera to tape my audition video?
Borrow a friend or relative’s camera. Beg and plead if you have to, because all applications must be submitted with an audition video. Caution for videos shot on cell phones or tablets! If you choose to tape your audition video this way pay attention to the quality of video and audio and if it can be seen right side up once uploaded.
What if I don’t have any professional photos or professional models wearing my work?
Producers will consider your entire submission – from the questionnaire to your sketches to your audition video – and photos are just one part of it. Photos should be crisp and clear in order highlight the quality of your work. Although professional photos and/or professional models are nice, your work should speak for itself no matter who took the photos or who is wearing your designs.
Can I get my application materials and audition video returned to me?
No. All videos and any application materials you submit to the casting department will become the sole property of the Producers once submitted, and will not be returned to you, whether or not you are selected as a participant.
When is the deadline to apply?
Extended Deadline!!! The deadline to receive completed applications and videos has been extended to Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at 6:00 PM Pacific Time to be considered. Do not wait until the deadline to apply. You want to make sure the casting team has enough time to review your submission and contact you for more information. There is no guarantee that your submission will be reviewed.
